Southern Swamp Dogwood True to its name, Southern Swamp Dogwood prefers wet habitats, growing in swamps, streambanks, marshes, and alluvial forests.

Twigs The twigs are reddish on new growth, becoming grey with age. The pith is white.

Leaf Dogwood leaves have a characteristic vein pattern, with several prominent, pinnate veins that curve upward to follow the edge of the leaf.
