It's really hard to tell a very young D. capillaris from a D. brevifolia. Schnell's CPs of the US & Canada says, "[D. brevifolia] has a very short petiole and a wedge-shaped leaf tapering nearly back to the rosette center. The easiest identification marker for the beginner is the scape of D. brevifolia, which is gland-bearing, whereas the other two species with which it may be confused [D. capillaris and D. rotundifolia] have smooth scapes." |
