2013 Spring Picnic & Plant Auction

NCNPS Annual Spring Picnic: Fun Together & Fun with Ferns
Saturday, June 1st
Shelter #5, Hagan Stone Park, south of Greensboro

Join us for our annual potluck picnic, native plant auction, and a morning workshop on fern identification and propagation, led by Dr. Larry Mellichamp.

Our native ferns are beautiful, diverse, and fun to grow, but alas, they all seem to look alike! Using Anne & Barbara Hallowell’s Fern Finder, our own Larry Mellichamp will help us sort them out, and also teach us about fern propagation. Larry is a Professor in the Department of Biology at UNC-Charlotte and Director of the UNC-Charlotte Botanical Gardens—with his prodigious knowledge and wry humor, it will be a fun and educational morning.

In addition to the morning workshop (which starts at 10:00), we will have our usual delicious BBQ and potlunch lunch at noon, followed by a native plant auction (so start potting up plants soon!).

More details about the fern workshop, and the rest of the day, along with directions to Hagan Stone Park, will be available in May.
