Spring Field Trip to Growing Wild Nursery

(2 - 4 P.M.)
Event Sponsor: South East Coastal Chapter

Alistair and Charlotte Glen will lead a tour of Growing Wild Nursery in Pender County.  This is a joint event with the Cape Fear Audubon Society.

Alistair started Growing Wild Nursery in 2006 after a decade of studying and propagating the native plants of southeastern North Carolina.  The nursery sells native plants from the Atlantic coastal plain and sandhills.  Plants are grown at the nursery from local seed.  Most of the seeds are collected on private land with permission, and a few are collected along roadsides ahead of the utility company’s mowing and herbicide spraying crews.

We will see the working areas of the nursery where the plants are propagated and grown.  We will also tour their beautiful garden, a “work in progress”,  where we will see native plants used in a garden setting.  If you want to add native plants to your yard, this is a great place to get information and ideas!  There will be plants for sale.  For more information, see http://growingwildnursery.com

Meet at Growing Wild Nursery at 2 pm.  Please be on time.
