Habitat Description:

Seepages at moderate to high elevations in the mountains, mucky bay swamps (dominated by Persea palustris and Magnolia virginiana) at about sea level on the Outer Banks, wet meadows, and other moist, seepy habitats, especially over mafic or calcareous rocks (Weakley 2015). Rare in NC Mountains and Coastal Plain.
