NC Native Plant Garden, 2006 NC State Fair

The North Carolina Native Plant Society sponsored a NC Native Plant Garden in cooperation with The H. L. Blomquist Garden of Native Plants (of the Sarah P. Duke Gardens), The North Carolina Botanical Garden, and the NCSU Biological and Agricultural Engineering. It was on view to the public during the 2006 State Fair, October 13 - 22, reaching thousands of people.

Here is the site before we started work.

Stefan Bloodworth, Curator of the Blomquist Garden of Native Plants, is taking the leading role to re-design the water feature and plan the native plantings. Helping here are NCNPS members Tammy Kennedy and Carol Kiefer.

The original water feature has more in common with a burial mound than anything found in nature.

After two loads of sizable boulders, the pond edge is reconstructed.
