We will meet at 9:00 at milepost 408 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is a grassy area for cars to park. But be careful and do not block the gate. The hike is along an old gravel road and gradually climbs to an old fire tower. The hike is moderate and about 1.5 miles roundtrip. The view is spectacular and there are several other side trails to explore! Please wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water and snacks.

“Hike this double-summit, ultra-scenic five-mile loop on the Art Loeb and Ivestor Gap trails, summiting Black Balsam Knob and Tennent Mountain. It’s a sun-drenched, blueberry and blackberry-filled adventure over two bald mountains to some incredible views.” The 5.1 mile roundtrip hike is rated moderate. Weather can change quickly especially at these elevations so come prepared and bring plenty of water and food. After the hike we can visit the hanging bog at Wolf Mt. overlook along the BRP.
